How to use it?
For swimming training, a snorkel is not the same as when you are snorkeling on vacation.
The training snorkel is attached to the head by a strap on the forehead. The snorkel must remain centered and stable, even when the head turns. The mouthpiece is placed comfortably in the mouth. The lips surround the mouthpiece, creating a seal to prevent water coming in.
Breathe normally with the snorkel. You need to be relaxed and maintain a regular breathing rhythm. If water enters the snorkel, blow hard to expel it.
Goal
Using the snorkel allows the swimmer to concentrate on alignment. The aim is to align the body as straight as possible. The body should be horizontal, with the head in a neutral position, looking towards the bottom of the pool.
The snorkel allows you to swim without having to turn your head to breathe, giving the swimmer the opportunity to concentrate on stroke technique, kicking and alignment.
Special drills
Drill 1 – full stroke: In freestyle, use the snorkel to concentrate solely on swimming technique without worrying about breathing.
Drill 2 – pull-buoy and snorkel: Combine both snorkel and pull buoy to work on arm technique and body alignment without worrying about lower movement. This exercise allows you to accentuate the precision of your arm movements.
Drill 3 – kicks: Use a board and snorkel to concentrate solely on kick movements while maintaining regular breathing.
